Rate of Recycling of Aluminium Cans to Negative Growth for the First Time
The association of recycling of aluminium cans announced on June 23 fiscal 2003's rate of recycling of aluminium cans for drink became 81.8%, down 1.3% from the previous year; its negative growth was the first time since 1977 when the association started researching the rate. The association plans to raise the rate of recycling of used aluminium cans by the enterprise-related in order to realize the rate of recycling of aluminium cans to 85% in 2006.
The reason why the rate of recycling of aluminium cans was below the previous year was that segregated collection by self-governing bodies reached the peak and collection of the caps of bottle-typed cans was not promoted.
