YKKAP to Integrate Construction Materials Unit
YKKAP is going to integrate its parent company YKK's construction materials unit in October. YKK group cuts 5 billion yen of cost in 2003 and 2004 after 5 billion yen of cost down in 2001 and 2002. The group also strengthens its bland as well as restructure.

YKKAP is trying to optimize itself across the board including product development, marketing, sales and production instead of each production site. The firm is scraping 8 extrusion equipments to 32 in 2003 since 2001.

The construction materials unit expects 358.86 billion yen of consolidated sales and 11.875 billion yen of operating profit for fiscal 2003. The firm behinds its plan by around 3% in first half of the year because building materials decrease by 10% while residential materials are in line with the plan. The firm expects increase for residential slightly and 5% decrease for building.
