Sumitomo Light Metal and Kobe Steel to produce extrusion
by the type
Sumitomo Light Metal Industries and Kobe Steel will strengthen
their alliance about extrusion business. Sumitomo Light Metal produces extrusion
in Nagoya and Chiba, and Kobe Steel in Yamaguchi, so they will produce by the
type from latter half of this year to reduce costs.
The two companies reached a basic agreement on aluminum extrusion business in
December 2000, and they decided to give unification to the stocks of aluminum
bar for dealers in the Kanto area around Tokyo in July 2000.
The advantages of these alliance are that OEM is about 150 tonnes per month
and the supply of billet to KOK, started last year, is about 300 tonnes per month.
