Mitsui & Co. to Invest 200 billion yen for Metal Resources
Mitsui & Co.'s Iron & Steel Raw Materials and Non-Ferrous Metals unit will invest up to 200 billion yen in fiscal 2005 started April. The unit tries to expand the interests in those resources under the targets including doubling the equity coal to more than 16 million tonnes per year and the equity copper to more than 100,000 tonnes by 2010. The unit expands the profitability by reinvesting the fat earnings. The unit also tries to support the procurement of Japanese customers including steel makers by securing offshore resources for resource poor Japan.
