Nippon Steel to Keep Export Price at Cost of Volume for July-Sep
Nippon Steel's sheet steel export is likely to decrease for commodity grade products under decreasing Asian market price. The firm avoids export at low price when it expects the slump in Asia is temporally caused by inventory adjustment in European and USA. The firm expects the sheet export could decrease by 5-10% in July-September. The firm doesn't reduce the price when the supply of the main products of high-valued sheet is still tight and raw materials cost could increase more in fiscal 2006 starting April 2006. The firm keeps the offer price at FOB US$S 650 per tonne for hot rolled coil by reducing volume waiting better market condition in October-December.
