JFE Steel to Improve No.4 Blast Furnace in Fukuyama Works
JFE Steel will improve No.4 blast furnace in Fukuyama area of West Japan Works in April-June of fiscal 2006. It will be invested with around 25 billion yen. The firm tries to increase cubic capacity of the furnace from 4,288 cubic meters to 5,000 cubic meters. Block/ring construction method will be used, and term of works is planned to be 70-80 days. The firm plans to prepare a system to get profits by low production level in response to active demand. And the firm could have a system to produce 30 million tonnes of crude steel.
