6 Kinds of Ferroalloys' Purchase Costs to Increase to 60 Billion yen
Thanks to the rise of the international ferroalloy market, steel makers' raw material purchase costs are likely to increase in fiscal 2005, the year that ends in March 2006. While silicon manganese and silicon prices fall from the previous year when they rose sharply in fiscal 2004, ferrovanadium and ferromolybdenum prices rise sharply in the current fiscal year. Assuming that the demand of the main 6 raw materials is equal to that of fiscal 2004, the total purchase costs will increase by 60 billion yen as a result of multiplying the price difference in the beginning of fiscal 2005 by the costs. It depends on development of the market fluctuation. The purchase costs will increase further if the demand increases thanks to increase of the ratio of high-quality steel's demand.
