Nippon Steel & Sumikin Stainless Expands Plate Output by 30%
Nippon Steel & Sumikin Stainless Steel announced on Friday the firm would eliminate bottlenecks in pickling line and other downstream operations at the plate plant in Yawata works to increase stainless plate output by 30% to annual 130,000 tonnes. The firm introduces new finishing and shipping lines under the 2.4 billion yen of expansion. The firm starts operations of expanded lines in July 2006. The firm tries to supply more stainless plate with the expansion when supply of the products is short and is expected to keep short with growing petrochemical and liquid natural gas industries.
