Tokyo Steel Manufacturing Raises H-beam by 5,000 yen per Tonne
Tokyo Steel Manufacturing announced on February 21 2005 the selling prices for distributors for the contract of this March that would start selling on 21th and close on 23th; the firm reduced H-beam and I-beam price by 5,000 yen per tonne to 67,000 yen for I-beam base price, U-shaped steel sheet-pile price by 9,000 yen per tonne, and channel steel, angle steel, deformed steel bar price by 2,000 yen per tonne to 63,000 yen for the base price of channel steel and 59,000 yen for that of angle steel, after the general beam price reduction by 5,000 yen per tonne for this February contracts. The firm's H-beam price hike was in 6 years and 2 months. The firm performed those price hikes in order to improve the price differences between overseas and Japan. It left the prices of the other kinds unchanged. Furthermore, as for the export price for the shipment in April-May 2005, the hot steel coil price has been $670 for FOB.
