Japan Auto Steel Shipment to Reach 11.1 million units in fiscal 2005
Japanese steel products shipment is expected to increase for automobile in fiscal 2005 starting April 2005 more than fiscal 2004. Sheet steel dealers expect the shipment would increase by around 2%. The volume could reach 11.1 million tonnes a year based on order statistics by Japan Iron and Steel Federation. The shipment would increase to 3.6 million tonnes for hot rolled steel sheet, 2.6 million tonnes for cold rolled sheet and 4.3 million tonnes for galvanizing steel. The estimate is based on more production of automotive with 100,000-200,000 units more for 10.7-10.8 million units of finished car and around 500,000 units more for knockdown sets.
