Special Steel Makers Perform Hikes of the Price of the Special Steel bar for Automakers
In the negotiations of the prices of special steel bars for major automakers, special steel makers such as Daido Steel will suggest they perform the price hikes by 10,000-15,000 yen per tonne for structural steel. Blast furnace steel makers such as Kobe Steel and Sumitomo Metals (Kokura), Ltd. have not yet decided the prices. Compared with special steel makers, blast furnace steel makers' price hikes are likely to become 15,000 yen or more per tonne because their costs increases dramatically. While the stock of special steel bars in the makers decrease little by little and hardship to obtain them is promoted, special steel makers will perform the price hikes more dramatically than fiscal 2004.
