Import of Steel Products Increases by 590,000 tonnes in 2004
The 2004's total import of ordinary steel products increased by 21% or 590,000 tonnes from the previous year to 3.34 million tonnes according to the Japan Iron and Steel Federation. It exceeded three million tonnes after three years. Steel plate increased by 2 times to 420,000 tonnes. Hot-rolling coil increased by 10% to 1.535 million tonnes and cold rolling coil increased by 18% to 806,000 tonnes. H-beam increased by 15 times to about 100,000 tonnes, and it is high-level since 1992.
