JFE Steel Starts Repair of No. 5 Blast Furnace in Fukuyama
JFE Steel starts the repair of the No. 5 blast furnace at the West Japan Works in the Fukuyama area. The period of the construction is about sixty days from the first half of this February. The capacity of furnace is expanded from present 4,664 cubic meters to 5,500 cubic meters. The crude steel production increases to 650,000 tonnes. The investment cost is about 21 billion yen. A large-scale blast furnace of 5,000-cubic meter class is completed in all the ironworks of both eastern and western Japan. The firm plans establishment to the crude steel production at 30 million tonnes.
