Japan Carbon Steel Import might Reach 3.5 million tonnes in 2004
Japanese carbon steel import was likely to reach 3.4-3.5 million tonnes in 2004, representing first 3 million tonnes in 3 years. Hot rolled coil import increased from previous year for the first time in 7 years and import of other major products including cold coil and plate increased. The higher import could result in oversupply for plate, a part of hot coil and stainless flat steel.
