Kobe Steel Establishes New Base of Special Steel Wire Rod Processing in China
Kobe Steel announced on Monday that it would establish the second processing base of special steel wire rods in China. It will be established cooperated by Metal One, Kyodo Shaft that is a wire rod processor of Kobe Steel group, Sugita Wire, and Kobe Steel. The annual capacity of production of the base is 15,000 tonnes, and the operation will be beginning in April 2006. The base advancement of the steel wire for the cars in China is the first in Japan. Kobe Steel is planning to found the similar base in South China, having the policy of strengthening the supply situation of special steel in Asian areas along with the processor in Thailand. The total investment cost of the new firm is 1.8125 billion yen, the capital is 725 million yen, and in the investment ratio, Kobe Steel is 60%, Metal One is 25%, Kyodo Shaft is 7.5%, and Sugita Wire is 7.5%.
