JFE Steel advance FS to Blast Furnace in China Over One Year
As for the interview by Japan Metal Bulliten, Fumio Sudo, president of JFE Steel Corporation said that the blast furnace consistent iron mill construction design in Guanzhou, China is contained in the feasibility study. He said that a feasibility study is performed over one year, about participation, at least, it applies half a year and a management judgment is made. Although its best is done in JFE Steel to become the excellent company in the world, it cannot be said that a financial standing is still firm. He think that If one year and a half will be carried out in one more year, it will become strong to a slight degree. He wants to wait to there. In addition, nobody understands the Chinese future. It is necessary to see the present situation carefully. He want whether it gets used to the relation which can share a result by WIN-WIN, and to build a local partner and a long-term confidential relation, and to check over many hours to a slight degree. He said that the steel sheet project in Guanzhou finished order of the hot dip galvanizing equipment etc., and construction is going smoothly towards operation of the spring of 2006. The cold-rolled project will be collectively considered in a consistent iron mill construction design.
About the international vertical-division-of-labor strategy by JFE Steel, he think that a mutual confidential relation is important. The present relation is one by one, heads exchange opinions, they are performing the intention check, and it has said very well. Now in the supply and demand is tight, accepting ha slab or hot coil supply present condition can fully against the request from the alliance partner.
He said that "while a company globalizes, in order to survive, there are three methods, one is the predominance in a scale. Another is an upgrading route. The weight of only-one which contributes to a profit in short, and number one goods is raised. Another also has the way survived with the local adhesion type in the inside of globalization. He want to be the company which JFE Steel raises the ratio of an upgrading route, only-one, and number one in three methods, and respects profitability. A scale is also considered on it."
He said that although there is also an uptrend of outside environment and the profit is extended on the whole, each kind sector and all goods are not first-class profitability,and though ROS (Return on Sales) is 15% and 20%, it is not in high spirits. He think that In order to make it the quality of a business entity which can respond to change of all environment, the problem in each sector must always be probed and much more profit stabilization must be tackled.
