Steel Material Demand to be Good According to Hearing of Steel Consumers
Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry held hearing of steel consumers, and it asked about the trends of steel demand. According to the hearing, the demand of the machine industry was brisk by and large. The export and producction of cars in August 2004 increased from the same month of the previous year; the production increased for 3 consecutive months. Regarding shipbuilding, this September's contracts of ships for export decreased by 9.4% from the same period. However, the amount of construction on hand in the end of this September increased by 3.7% from the end of March 2003.
This September's total sales amount of cars decreased by 1.5% from the same month of the previous year in 2 months. But this August's total car export increased by 3.8% from the same period and did for 6 consecutive months. This August's total car production increased by 2.5% from the same period and did for 3 consecutive months.
The sum of the order entry of industrial machinery in August 2004 increased by 8.6% from the same period and did for 2 consecutive months.
The sum of the order entry of construction machinery for this August increased by 19.2% from the same period and did for 17 consecutive months.
The necessary amount of estimated steel frames increased by 18.6% from the same period and did for 9 consecutive months.
