Tokyo's Ferrous Scrap Price Falls in Reaction
The reactionary fall of the ferrous scrap market in the Tokyo area has become inevitable situations caused by the fall of export price and easing of the domestic supply and demand. It is after two months.
The purchase prices of the ferrous scrap in the local electric furnace makers are about 28,000 yen per tonne for H2. The export price in the coast of Tokyo Bay decreased to around FAS 24,000 yen per tonne because of becoming dull for overseas steel makers' purchase will, and it is 4,000 yen cheaper than the purchase price of the local electric furnace. The purchase prices of the local electric furnace makers that have risen after June seems to fall to about 25,000 yen by the end of this week.
The business inquiry of each steel maker company in Asia is decreasing. As a result, the export decreases, and domestic ferrous scrap supply and demand strengthens the easing tendency. The purchasing agent of electric furnace steel makers want to decrease the purchase price of makers to FAS 24,000 yen per tonne throughout the process of arrival of ferrous scrap. And the ferrous scrap trader on the supply side is hastening the shipping pace.
On the other hand, the export price of newly signing the agreement for purchase is declining. Now, the shipping price for export is FAS 27,500 yen per tonne, and the shipping price for domestic use is around FAS 26,000 yen per tonne. The new export price to South Korea decreased to around FOB 25,000 yen per tonne. The steel makers in South Korea and Taiwan are requesting further lowered prices. The ferrous scrap price in the United States also is decreasing, and falls of the domestic and export ferrous scrap prices in Japan seems to be sharp.
