Integrated steel manufactures to start the negotiation for more price hike of steel sheet
Integrated steel manufactures and Japanese major automobile companies will start the negotiation for more price hike of steel sheet for automobile in July. Though a hike has been agreed from April contract, integrated steel manufactures ask the price increase again since it didn't interwork cost increase caused by appreciation of material price. Each company separately negotiates and they hope to raise by some 5,000-6,000 yen per tonne from October contract. And integrated steel manufactures could suggest a system placed caps to supply by the quarter after they negotiate with automobile makers.
Cost gains caused by increase of material price fiscal 2004 seem to be over 700 billion yen from the previous year in whole iron and steel industry. Integrated steel manufactures plan to decide a hike-price requested from material cost of their companies and range to be able to rationalization in their self. The negotiations are expected to start by the middle of August.
