Sumitomo Metal accepts an order of high-strength steel
plate of 7,000 tonnes
Sumitomo Metal Industries announced on Thursday that it accepted an order of about
7,000 tonnes of "SUMITEN610F", high-strength steel plate, 60 kilogram
level, thickness of 34-60 millimeter, for hydro steel pipe to a Chinese dam, which
will generate electric power at the largest scale in the world.
Delivery time is September 2003-August 2004. Trading company is Mitsui & Co.
Order volume is not announced.
Sumitomo Metal produces high-strength steel plate for hydro steel pipe at Kashima
plant, and it has made a delivery about 220,000 tonnes both home and abroad, about
25% of the market share in the world.
